Icon2 hatch and window tint removal

k so i got some seriously blistered tint that was poorly installed. and i want to get it off. i know how to get it off. but the whole process would be 100x faster if i could take off the hatch. so is it hard or would it be worth it? and can some one point me to a how to or tell me?

removing the rear tint on the car with the defroster lines can BE VERY BAD. personally take it to a repable tint shop. if you insist doing it yourself the glass is just bolted up..if if its the 92-95 civic. if its the 96-00 you cant take out the glass.

Of course you can remove the glass. You have to work it out of that rubber gasket/seal thing-a-ma-bob but it can be removed. How else would you swap it into a carbon fiber hatch for instance. But it would be more trouble than it's worth. And I have never seen rear glass bolted into anything. Are you sure about that?

k well he was right i will give you the quick run down of how to remove the glass hatch and how to QUICKLY remove some sh!tty tint.

Removing hatch
1. pop hatch
2. remove/ loosen (i didn't take it all the way off) the wing/bill in the back by removing 4x 10mm nuts on the hinges
3. undo nessesary wire ties and then i just rested it the top of the car
4. undo the supports on the glass end. by using open ended wrenches one to hole a nut and another to turn the other nut.
5. next remove the cover to the wiper motor and unplug it.
6. remove the rubber grommets from the top of the window and remove all wiring.
7. next there are 4x more 10mm nuts holding the whole back window to the car remove those and it's off.

As for removing the extremely blistered tint
supplies
. razor blades
. ammonia
. and your neighbour's industrial sized fabric steamer!!!!!

. i cut all the bubbles open with the blades
. and the fabric steamer just totally melts the glue then blasts the window tint away.
. then i used the ammonia to clear up any adhesive still left.
. this method left one HUGE mess but i have a shop vac handy to clean up the millions of window tint pieces

oh and for the window instalment since the supports are now fully extended and impossible to push in. the steps are mixed up.

1. bolt up window to hinge
2. bolt down the bill
3. re-run the wiring to the motor (rubber grommets = pain to put in w/o a screw driver)
4. then tilt the window to the up position and the supports should go right to their holes then just reattach them. and you are done

Since my tint would absolutely NOT come off in big pieces no matter how much i heated it up and stuff. i will be seeing these little pieces of tint for years to come in my grand kids dippers.
