hatch gutted weight?
I asked this same question in the ef forum as I am trying to decide which hatch can get down to 1750. https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-crx-ef-civic-1988-1991-3/hatch-gutted-weight-2918641/
I am curious how much you figure an eg hatch like this would weight:
Gutted interior (Just dash)
1 Race seat
No AC
No power steering
No sunroof
Small battery
b16 engine and tranny
CF hatch
CF hood
Lexan windows (rear hatch and rear quaters)
Door completely gutted (no glass, no lexan, no door bars)
What do you think a eg hatch like this would weight?
I need to get the weight down to 1750 lbs...
Thanks!

Re: hatch gutted weight?
Cut out sheet metal webbing on all interior sheet metal panels .....fiberglass or carbon fiber parts for every removable piece of sheet metal. remove dash and every non essential item from firewall. Custom fabbed core support to retain headlights and single core slimline radiator.

Forgot to add would be removing sound deadening and possibly Ti exhaust.
Anyone know how much a CX with fully gutted interior weights?

Ah, didn't see you'd be prepping your car for regulation. Dry Ice on the sound deadening. You still can take the dash off and remove all un necessary components and put the dash back on, right?
Are these legal? Hella savings on unsprung weight!

Re: hatch gutted weight?
Well I dont know the weight of a gutted hatch. But the cx weights in at 2108lbs. So I would say yes i think you would def be able to get in down into the 1750lb range with all the gutting you would be doing. Only way to find out is start calculating things up like the difference in weight between the glass and lexan. weight of stock hood to carbon fiber and then that will give you a better understanding if it is at all possible or worth it..

Unfortunately the suspension arms and knuckles need to be OE, the bushings are free though.
Can't do much more than what I listed.

So if the cx is 2100 I need to loose 350 lbs by:
gutting interior
removing side windows
gutting doors
replacing 3 back windows with lexan
replacing hood and hatch with cf
Sounds like it's possible...
