Default has anybody ever fit a civic door inside their civic?

I'm buying a driver's door shell this weekend to replace my smashed in door. I am going to remove the passenger seat and rear seat and lay the door in at an angle. I'm wondering if anybody has ever fit a door in their civic? Hopefully this will save me the time of taking my door off and test fitting it inside my car....

it is a 2 door civic, 96. I have a 2.5 hr drive to get the door so strapping to the roof isn't an option.

edit:

i'm sure it'd fit provided the odd door open angles dont interfere. I'd do a cardboard cutout before actually taking off the door.

no but my friends stupidly wreck their cars alot. I bet it was funny watching a short fat guy and a tall skinny guy trying every angle to get a door into the back of a benz for like a half an hour in the junkyard parking lot

It should be able to fit. You should be able to work something out. A friend of mine said he was able to fit in an engine hoist in his 93 coupe and was able to shut the trunk.

This may sound weird, but if it's a really tight fit, show some pics of the process to get it in there, it may be amusing.

hatch, no problem. you can even drive comfortably with a passenger. I had an EG driver's door, tailgate, roof trims and a set of tires/rims in my 92 hatch and it all fit with no problem.
coupe/sedan pull the passenger seat and it will fit but your right elbow will be clunking it as you drive. You don't have to pull the rear seats.

i can tell you right now that if the door has similar width to a hood... through the trunk MAY work, with tons of wiggling and rope

I was thinking through the trunk would be the best bet, well that is if the door isn't taller than the width of the opening. The trunk is pretty roomy but that darn opening could be a little bit bigger.

scratch the trunk idea I just measured mine and it will not fit. The door is roughly 44.5 inches and will be too wide to fit through the backseat opening. When I measured diagonally I got roughly 40 inches so if you can get that door in the trunk then you sir will be the man. You might have a chance if you remove the passenger seat and then maybe the console.

Is the trunk that small that you can't put the back seats down and slide it in that way?

(Not being an ******* here, seriously just wondering).

I will take pics for sure I'll also take out the center console storage arm rest thing. I wish I had my hatch now, I've fit all kinds of crap in there before... A complete motor, exhaust, 4 rims tires, shift linkage and a bunch of other small ****. I have pics of that. Before that I fit a full size futon new in the box, pics of that too. One time I fit a couch and a ton of other **** from Ikea in my hatch but the corner put a small crack in the windshield... pics of course. I will dig up all these and post em

oh it should fit in the trunk just not through the opening where the seat folds down. I guess you could remove all the plastic on both sides, rear seat, etc... then it will def. fit through there

yeah I was thinking you may have to turn it sideways and try to lay it back for it to work thats why I said the console, heck just strip the whole inside minus the carpet of course.
