harmonic balancer problems
hey got a problem and i dont know how big or small it is, just picked up a 91 si with a zc motor swapped in, friend sold it to me cause the harmonic balancer came off while he was driving it, now theres a knocking whne the motor is started, thought maybe a thrown rod???, also sounded like the timing belt might be hitting the cover, the belt has about 1/2 to 3/4 inch of play in it and possibly skipped a tooth??? if so what should the timing belt be set too?? any info would help thanks

there is a DIY timing belt tension in the CRX / EF forum FAQ at the top of their forum.

Re: harmonic balancer problems (owen_the_soyboy)
thanks, that was alot easier than i thought it would be, the tensioner was tight so maybe the belt got stretched out, so ordering a new one, another question though, the gear on the crank seems loose. it wiggles left and right where that "key" or noch in it is. it also slides in and out, but doesnt come off i wouldnt think it should do that but then again i dont know, if it does need to be replaced how does it pull off, and where would i get a replacement part, its a zc motor sohc so what other blocks does that match? thanks alot for your help im not used to working on theese motors.
