Harmful/Possible
Can I drive my 2000 Si with out a catalytic converter or back? All that is on there now is the stock header and nothing after that, I sold my exuast and will not get the stock one for about a week! Will it hurt anything to drive or will it even drive? I don't wnat to mess anything up! Should I park it or will it be ok?

Re: Harmful/Possible (clintwsi)
You can drive like that just fine. It'll be loud though.
EDIT: You won't have a secondary 02 sensor plugged in, so you will throw a CEL that you will have to reset when you get another catalytic converter, but you'll be fine. Just get it up out of the way.

Explain how it hurts the engine?? I agree with the ticket part, but explain the first part please?

It doesn't hurt the motor, there is no conceivable way that this would hurt the motor. Will it hurt the performance? Maybe, probably, but I've never seen a motor dynoed with no exhaust.

8grandEG on this board ran a 14 flat at our local track with no exhaust on his B18C hatch. On the dyno with his stock exhaust on he barely hit 140whp. It does make a difference.

You should be fine for a couple weeks, just don't get past 4k, and don't downshift around there either or you may see some flames .
You'll also lose a little torque by doing this too, but I don't think your concerned about that. I just read that someone was talking about dynoing a car without exhaust.

Re: Harmful/Possible (sickSOLvtec)
I don't know, I would definetely say that there's a good chance idle will be rough, since your second 02 won't be able to deliver accurate information to your ecu. But besides tickets, rough idle, bleeding eardrums, smell of burning carbon(from a mile away), and a feeling of hot coals on the floor if you drive barefoot(I know you soCAL kids are into that)...... You have nothing to worry about.
