Hard to get into gear (1st & 2nd)
B16A3
B16 Trans w/ ITR LSD & JDM 4.785 Final Drive
It is very difficult to shift into 1st and 2nd gear, most notably on the DOWNshift only. No grinding. The rest of the gears 3rd, 4th, 5th do NOT have this issue.
Any ideas? I hate to shell out $250 + for synchros if that's not the case.

Re: Hard to get into gear (1st & 2nd)
In terms of first, it's when i'm coming to a stop. I'll shift to neutral, hit the brakes til i'm stopped and then try to shift into first and it's very difficult.
Similarly, when I'm crusing and want to make a turn at lets say 20-30 mph or whatever and I try to shift from 3rd to 2nd it's very difficult, I mean at times it won't get into gear until I try multiple times or really tug on the shifter.

Could be your clutch getting tired, I was having the same issues I just did clutch job(ACT S2) problem solved. But yeah no down shifting into first, Brakes are cheaper and easier to replace.

I replaced the tranny bearings all of them brand new less than 10k ago.
I'm going to replace the clutch soon, but want to know whether or not to replace the synchros while i'm in there (if that's the cause of my problem).

Re: Hard to get into gear (1st & 2nd)
Hmm, (I lurk these forums for my ek as well) but I have some of the same problems... Sort of, at least.
My problem (and I don't mean to thread jack this away from you) is in my EF. I can't shift into 3rd mainly when trying to downshift, sometimes 4th gear but not usually. I can't really EVER shift into 1st. I was told maybe it was a shiftlock (since you shouldnt shift into 1st, I know, it would block you from putting it into 1st above a certain MPH)? I don't know if that's true or what. Also now my 5th is totally gone, I can't shift into 5th at all. Rest of my gears still work, and I never have a problem putting it into third while accelerating but I can't really do it well while downshifting.
I am replacing my tranny completely soon.

Re: Hard to get into gear (1st & 2nd)
Yeah see, I know that first is hard to get into even in a brand new tranny, but the fact that I get that same feeling in 2nd makes me think there's a problem.
I mean the feeling is that when I go to downshift in 2nd it's like there's something in the way blocking the shift, and it's only on downshift - I almost NEVER feel it on the upshift and almost ALWAYS on the downshift.
