Hard to accelerate, from standing start.
Alright, I've had this problem since I own the car but I learned to drive manual on it so by the time I realized it's a problem it was too late. I have a 98 Civic Si (US LX) and when I accelerate from a standing start, it's really easy to stall. The clutch seems extremely sensitive. Pretty much everyone I know who drives manual daily usually stall a few times when they first drive it. I've been driving it for over 3 years now so it's not really a problem for me anymore. Just wanted to know if there's anything I can do to get smoother standing starts (without replacing the clutch), or if it's just something common with the 98 Si.
I'm not exactly mechanically inclined so it might be something stupid.

if your clutch is slipping
not really you can do but give it even more gas
does your rpm go up and your car doesnt go any faster on hills when you gun it down?

Re: Hard to accelerate, from standing start. (komat)
hmm, no it's not slipping. It seems more like the clutch's 'gripping point' is really small. I didn't actually buy the car, it belonged to my parents before I had it so I didn't get to speak to the previous owner. If it's an after-clutch, it pretty dumb because the rest of the car is completely stock. Maybe the clutch broke and the guy decided to go all-out with the new one. High-performance clutches are harder to drive, right?
