Default Had my ceheck Engine Code pulled...any opinions?

Just had a code pulled on my Si at Advance Auto and the scan tool said "Bank 1 Sensor 1 O2 Sensor slow Response"

They said theiy scan tool isn't as detailed as others so a better scan tool could possibly give me more detail as to whatthe problem was. Judging by tha It sounds like the pre cat O2 sensor (which runs about $280). I had this replaced when I first got the car, but that was also before I did my header, cat, and cat back.

Does anyone else have any other ideas on this?

Check all connections and make sure they're good.

A primary O2 sensor is not $280. Check out http://www.sparkplugs.com, you can get a direct replacement Denso for about $65 shipped.

Thanks for that site... yeah according to them for a direct plug in sensor it was big bucks. I always thought the "front" sensor was the one before the cat and was supposed to be the more expensive one. According to that site the rear one is more.

Either way would replacing the o2 sensor be the cure?

Its probably more because they think more wire and that little rubber grommet cost a lot.
Sparkplugs.com sells "first-time-fit" units from denso, which have a plug. Its a little more, but personally, I hate to solder o2 sensors.

Replacing the sensor should solve the problem...

Personally, Id check the code myself ( http://www.hstuners.com/forums...23007 ) and find out if its the primary or 2ndary.
Mechanically speaking, theyre the same damn sensor...one just has more wire and a grommet (like I said).

If your car seems to run fine, minus the fact that the cel is on, its 2ndary.
If it runs like crap, its primary.

Thanks alot for that link. Its definately very helpful.

The car definately runs fine....it has since this light has come on. I'll have to try that trick and see what I come up with.

for some reason when it comes to sensors like O2 and MAP, the auto stores such as autozone, napa auto parts, and advance auto tend to charge MORE than a DEALERSHIP would.....and more than a regular distributor would...I've just had that experience multiple times...like for me it was with my VW twice...they wanted like 75 for one and 130 for the other, for the same things, right from VW, they wanted 30 for the first one, and like 60 for the other, I was dumbfounded, but anyways, that's that, don't trust those stores when it comes to O2 prices, look online and such and price b4 u buy from them to make sure ur not getting screwed
