So I have decided my SOHC, although I do enjoy it, will not be enough power for me. I am planning an H2B for my hatch that I am going to start in early January. I have noticed the Type-S engine puts out more power (220 HP vs the 200 HP OBD-I motor), being as that is, would it be worth buying the OBD-II motor and converting it to OBD-I? I can get either long block for relatively the same price so the money for that doesn't bother me and neither does the wiring. If it would be worth it to convert it I would need the wiring information which I have not seen in any of the FAQs or through searching. All of the other information on the swap is pretty damn good and I think with good prep it should not be a tough swap.

Just get the normal h22, and spend the money you saved on some kickass cams.

You'll make more power with a reg. h22 with kickass cams than an h22 with type-s cams. That's primarily the difference in the hp numbers.

Cool, I do appreciate that, been pretty excited about starting my new project. Any cams you could suggest? I may be able to get better response over at the lude forum but I didn't want to double post.

Hard to suggest cams without semi-knowing what you want to do.

I HIGH RECOMMEND searching in the all motor forum for threads on choosing cams.

On the other side, many mild h22 enthusiast's recommend blox type-a's and skunk2 pro 1's

Those cams can be purchased for $250-$350

Much less than the difference in the price of the two motors.

I'm assuming typical prices from Engine dealers.
