H2B, B16A2, B18B1 with a GSR Trans. Need some advice
I got a 94 Del Sol with a very tired 1.5L motor in it and it's about to go anytime now. I've got some motors laying around and a GSR trans along with some odds and end parts from old projects. This is my DD but I can put another 1.5L motor back in there. My goal is 300hp with using most of what I already have and no more than 1500.00 in cash. My options are:
97 H22 (clean) with the gsr trans. H2B kit needed
96 Integra B18B1 (high miles but ran great) with the gsr trans
99 Civic Si B16A2 (was turboed, has blow by) with the gsr trans
I have a T3/T4 with a .57 A/R and a intercooler already. I have a A/T P28 computer that I could chip and do Hondata. So I'll need to get a manifold no matter which of the motors I use along with tubing, BOV, FMU, injectors, etc...I'm kinda leaning toward the H2B since i'm starting with a better, cleaner engine with more hp and torque but the kit would take a huge part of the budget. I don't know there's pros and cons with all of them, any advice would help.

B18b1 has my vote too. The b16a is already tired and not as suited for boost as the b18. Plus if you still have all the parts the manifold and what not will still bolt on. The h22 will probably suck up all your budget.

The B18B would be a better fit with no kit needed and it plugs with no wiring changes; it's about as bolt-in plug and play as you can get. The c/r is lower which would be better for boost. I'm not gonna build this motor at all and I don't want to run more then 10psi. I would think that 10psi on a B18B wouldnt get me to my 300hp.

The H22 is the best of my motors as far as condition but I need to get that expensive *** mount kit to do the H2B set up. I could freshin up the B16 with new rings and seals.

The B16 is stock also. I got it mostly for the head to a ls/vtec set up. I've been partial to the H series motors for years though. I'm really flip flopping mostly on the B18B and the H22. The B16 is the torqueless wonder, but it is very reliable.

Pics of my old H22A build. Custom Arias 90mm bore pistons, Ferra 1mm oversized valves, balance shaft where removed. It was a bad *** motor.

In your case, budget seems to be the larger factor. For the money, go the LS route. You can always freshen up the motor with new rings/pistons, gaskets, timing belt, etc. If you plan on the H2B, expect all that $1500 be gone....just for the kit itself. You can always sell the other motors/parts for some cash to spend later.
BTW, did you buy that del SOL a year ago from a guy in Maryland? If so, I was so close to getting it for myself.

I was selling it last year, I never sold it. Those were the last pictures I took of the car.

you can either get the qsd kit which cost somewhere around 700-800 dollars or evolution that would cost somewhere around 1300-1500 dollars with mounts. qsd has better ground clearance and the evo has better hood clearance. what ever works for you.
