yes the h23 swap is the exact same as a h22 swap into a civic..

i used hasport mount kit... and a 95 ex wiring harness...dropped in like a dream and now that i have everything figured out...it is the fastest car i have ever owned. i have had like 10 ludes before and now a 92 civic hatch with my h22 in it and i love it!!!

BTW, the h23 is Not a good engine IMHO..they seem to always break or have problems..(referring to an UN touched OEM dead stock h23a1)... you may want to look into a h22 head swap or sell the h23 and buy a h22..it is worth it i promise!! i love my h22 hatch!

BTW, i just saw that you have a 96. I dont know if the swap would be different but damn close to the same. You should have no prob as long as you have a good mount kit, like i said, i Recommend Hasport.

I hope you follow thru with the swap...you will have a blast driving the civic!!!

All stock H-Series engines suffer from the same valve, tranny, and ring land problems. I've seen more beat up H22s than H23s (granted they are more popular). The motor he wants is coming out of my wrecked prelude and I never had to do anything to it but change the oil.
