H23...
So I'm getting a H23 motor...
I'm wondering what options are available for this motor. I've done a small search on it, but it seems most people are opting out for a H22 swap instead... I'd really like to put a H22 head on the block, but the only link I could find on it was discontinued....
I've heard people put F22 cranks with H22 pistons in the bottom end, but I'm not sure what else/needs to be done for this to work. I'm currently going to school for automotive technology and will have complete access to a shop that I can do pretty much anything in. I don't want to go too over board with this, but I would like to make something for my 4-door to have bang.
Anyone that could help me out would be greatly appreciated!

stick with h22 if your new to swaps. dont let anyone talk you out of one, they are awesome, anyone that says different, either hasn't owned one or has gotten beat by one.

Re: H23... (ek forever guy)
Getting rid of the H wasn't a concern. lol
I'm getting a H23 for free, so I was going to use that. My original plan was to build a H22, but when the offer for a free motor came up I couldn't pass it! lol
I'm just wondering what kind of hybrids are available for the H23 block

The H23 is non-vtec. I was wondering if you could do it like an ls/vtec or not.

I'm not looking to spend a whole lot of money tho...
and I'd like to have vtec. I want to build a N/A motor, and vtec is killer in that area. lol
I was thinking the H23 was just a bored out H22... but I guess not.

Re: (ek forever guy)
shitty... alright
I'm also getting a turbo manifold with it.... totally against what I want to do for this car, BUT it's all free. I dunno how much this motor would sell for. I've heard the H23's are good for boost because of it's lower compression.
I really want to work with what I can without having to do a lot of selling and buying of different things.
Maybe I should just build it for boost, eh?

I'll search more just for you. how's that? lol</TD></TR></TABLE>
Just trying to show you that we can't just spoon feed you everything you want to know. We all had to learn. And you're doing fine. It's normal.
You'll learn a LOT more browsing through various threads. And you're a LOT less likely to come up with misinformation when you search because you can contrast different threads usually.

if you have some old honda tuning magazines from about a year ago there is a wicked prelude with an h23 vtec set up in his car. i think he listed a couple sites he used to build it. fair warning though, a lot of people say it won't work or it's not worth it but i say if you wanna do it, then just freaking do it. i'd get the h23 in the car running and drivin 1st before i decided to go vtec. that way if you run into problems it's most likely an issue with the head and not the motor or wiring.

^^ Thats not a bad idea... I'll have to look thru my stash to see if I can find anything.
I'm not looking for someone to build my motor for me... I'm looking for some information on where to start.
