You're going to want to give us some more information, sweetheart. What chassis, what engine, what gauge cluster, what wheels and tires?

sorry ive been posting questions all week about this hatch -.-. anyways its a 92 hatch with a h22 , from what ive been reading its a normal problem. but i want to do something about it , i have 5 months befor i get my lic. back so i want this car to be done by then. im using the auto cluster that was in the car from stock and using some crx si rims at the moment to keep it off the ground till i can drive it again.

edit: being called sweetheart makes me feel like a 12yo girl

The fact that you are driving around at 70 mph with no license calling in favors to cops seems to indicate that you may be too retarded to implement any solution anyone finds...

this might be a long shot but try another speed sensor. the gear on the sensor might be different and be reading incorrectly.

it's already been established that his speedo is off... that's pretty much his whole problem

Good rule.

Find a tiresize/model comparison calculator. They're all over the web. Do a google search. Enter your tire specs and your car chassis and make sure you're not running too small of a tire.

troubleshooting will find WHY his speed-o is off
maybe it's the speed sensor gone bad,

if he swaps speed-o's and the problem is corrected
either
a recalibrate it
b buy a new one

sorry im so fcking stupid

Yeah this is where I'd look first.

To find total tire diameter the equation is:

Edit: PS: The example left out tire diameter, it's ((205 x .55) / (25.4)) x 2 + 16

Sorry 'bout that.

If you're running different diameter tires it WILL throw your speedometer off. Say you the OEM wheel/tire combo that originally came on your car came out to a total diameter of X. If you have aftermarket rims or tires that don't preserve the same aspect ratio you can be looking at like X+3" or something of the sort for the total diameter.

This WILL throw your speedometer off. Check it against the total tire diameter that originally came on your car.

I'm pretty sure the guy meant "the cluster is off."

As in broken. That's why he suggested to try a different cluster.

see, it doesnt HAVE to be the actual cluster that has the problem

if you have aftermarket rims, try using this:

http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

It even shows you how far off your speedo should be with different sized wheels/tires. For example, my 17's (yes, I know... shame on me for getting 17's) throw the speedo off about 3% (ie, it reads about 58 mph when I'm really going 60)

Yeah, my friend's dad has a ram 1500 gas and he put larger total diameter tires for the work he was doing (he builds houses) and it was throwing his speedo WAY off.
