Default H22 question (Might be a repost sorry )

Hey guys I posted in the Prelude forum also but im here more often so I figured i would ask you guys too ....

was checking out my buddys new H22 swap today and I noticed a pritty big *about the sized of your thumb* hole in the block right next to the engine code stamp you could see the fly wheel .... whats the purpose of this hole ? he told me there is a rubber plug thats suposed to go there but it fell out and he had to order a new one ... anybody ?

You check the timing through that square opening. The timing marks on are on the flywheel on the h22.
