H22 EG axle problem FIXED!
OK, so I get my h22 EG swap started for the first time last night, started right up by the way! FULL REBUILD and my first h22 into a civic, and yeah, started right up and NOT ONE CEL! Alright, enough gloating.
Anyway I get done and let it idle for a while, I am checking things out and then I go for a drive, all is good until I get above 33mph, anything at that speed or above and the car shakes like crazy!!! I mean shaking like the dash is going to jump out, the shake is in or out of gear, and with the clutch engaged or disengaged so I figured it had to be an axle. So I rack my car, and I can't visibly see anything, so I took out my brand new axles and went to talk to my boy at NAPA, he handed me some new ones. I put these ones in and it still does it! At this point I know it has to be axles or the hub, something in the chassis drivetrain. So the last thing I do before I go home is raise up the car, because it was sitting kind of low, so I raised up my coilovers, and PROBLEM SOLVED!!! H22 civics don't like to be low!!! So now all I have to do is figure out how to be able to keep my car low and not have axle problems!

Re: H22 EG axle problem FIXED! (Hondaddict)
The reason why you have problems with the axle and the reason why many other h22a swaps turn out bad is because of the axle length. If you use the proper length axle you can lower your car all the way down!

I encountered the very same problem with my GSR swap into a 92-95. I changed out the differential, axles, wheel bearings.. the works. Nothing helped. I wonder if it was the rack now that I look back.. or it could of been it being too low or something.

Re: (laosb904)
usually axles shaking in a H22 eg is due to inproper lengths of the shaft, I use 89 teg axles cause the axles were shorter and that fixed MY prolem however it caused another. By the axle being short it ended up pulling the axle boot to the point where it would pull the axle out of the tranny, so I fixed that problem by simply swapping the tranny side cv cup with one from a prelude and it has never backed out again.

Hey Reed whats up? Glad to hear you got that thing up and running. In case any of you doubt the time and effort this kid put into his car dont.
Im not sure if I could have that much patience.
Was up in your area and was gonna stop by the shop but we had a two day race and time flew by...
lol You may not remember me but I stopped by with my brother (were the old guys) who lives in that area earlier this year and I had driven my black si with the itr swap up from Wyoming.
BTW I was racing autox with one of your boys with an eg and a h22 swap...cant remember his name but he has Club Si stickers on it. Oh, and I smoked him

I have the same problem, when i go left the car vibrates like crazy.
So, I got 2 new axles put in but now the when i go right in vibrates even worst than before, but it is fine when I go left.
What axles do I need to fix that.
