H22 in a 96 Civic DX. Doable?
Well, I've decided that the grandma - esque 4 dr automatic Accord isn't for me. I like it, but I don't have kids yet, and I'm getting sick of hauling my friends around.
I'm looking at getting a Civic, in fact, i've got one in mind. It's a 96 DX.
Now correct me if i'm wrong. The DX model is the B-something SOHC non V-TEC engine, right?
Ok, I'm looking into what it would take to drop in an H22. If I bought a long block plus transmission, are we talking a drop in replacement? Or am I going to need to get a whole buncha other stuff. I figured I'll have to have a new ECU, so it might be worth it to invest in a decent aftermarket one, right? Or, if you get it from hondamotors online (hmotorsonline now, apparantly), it comes with an ECU.

What else am I talking, price wise.
Also, if anyone wants a 4 dr stock 96 Accord, email me at will@fredrock.org. I'm fairly sure no one else from this board would want it, but someone might be settling down with the wife and kids or something and need a 4 dr that both of you can drive.
Thanks for all the help.

The stock civic motor is a D-series non-vtec motor. The H22 will fit in your civic but mount kits, shift linkage mods, and some wiring will need to be done. This topic has been covered alot so do a search in the Hybrid forum and see if you can get some more info and the pro's and cons's of the swap vs. other swaps and if they are in your price range.
Good luck!
