Default H22 in a 93 Civic - how difficult ??

Hi,

I am thinking about doing a H22A Swap into my 93 Civic Sedan LX and would like to know how difficult is it to put this motor in? Below is a list of what I have come up with for the swap, so let me know if I am on the right track ...

For the swap (besides the motor and tranny - 92-96 OBD1), I will need :

H22 Engine Mount Kit for 93 Civic
H22 Cable Shift Linkages
ECU and complete wiring harness
Axles and halfshaft

Is that everything I will need? Also, will the instrument cluster need to be rewired?

Thanks alot guys.

Check the 2 FAQ's at the top of the forum, those will help you out. Just have to broswe thru them a bit thou. And searching around the Hybrid forum would yield info too

Thx I found the info I needed - I do have one question though which I did not find the answer to (yet). I was looking at hondatuning.com and they put the H22 in from underneath the car ??? Is this the only way to do it or can it be installed from the top?

Thats the way i would do it, but I have access to a lift so I'd take advantage of it. But you'll just have to shoe-horn the bitch in. Most of the H22 swaps on here that weren't done by a shop were done without a lift, atleast thats what I've come across.

I've kicked around the idea of doing this swap too in my EJ1. I've found the 'Hybrid' forum very helpful. This swap looks VERY technical though, however for the amount of power it puts out and for the price, it's definitely the best bang for your buck.

the only downside i've heard about H-series was that its prone to blowing rods under massive pressure, then again, what engine isn't?

Hi,

So would it go in just like any regular motor (B-Series, etc.) from the top?

That sounds right. Those motors are huge.
