H&R Race Springs and Tokico HP Questions
I did a bit of searching around but didn't find the answers I was looking for.
I came across a good deal on some new H&R Race springs so I bought them. I'm in the market for a decent strut/shock and was wondering if anyone out there has had any experience with H&R Race and Tokico HP.

Re: (v4lu3s)
I am quite happy with my Illuminas and I just happened to get a set of Tokico Blues a couple of weeks ago. If they are anything like the Illuminas, then you are in for a treat! I live in a really bad city for roads and the struts illuminas are awesome. I have also heard that the blues are equally as good with the H&R or the Neuspeed springs! Good luck!

Re: H&R Race Springs and Tokico HP Questions (99 EK)
Ok...after talking to a few reputable shops, I've come to the conclusion that Tokico HP shocks are no match for the H&R Race springs. The only two shocks that were recommended for those springs were Koni Sport and Bilstein Sport. KYB AGX's were not mentioned, oddly enough.

I have Neuspeed Race Springs & the Tokiko blues, and I wish I would've waited for some nicer shocks......

Re: H&R Race Springs and Tokico HP Questions (distortedfuture)
I appreciate all the feedback and the info. The thing about opinions on suspensions is that they are usually baised to whatever set-up the indiviual has. For instance...."I have Neuspeed race springs and Koni Sports and there's nothing better out there..." or " Dood, you need Eibach Sportlines and AGX's - they rock!". It seems as if I'm going to have to go to a few local meets or GTGs and have a feel for what people are running. I have an idea of what I would like the car to do, but I'm not entirely convinced I need to spend a lot of money to do it.
It's a bit of a toss up, to be honest with you all. I want the car to look relatively low (2+"), I want it handle like it's on rails, but I want it to be civil enough to take my Mom out on Mother's day. (It sounds like I need two cars, right?)

Re: H&R Race Springs and Tokico HP Questions (99 EK)
haha, i know what u mean. i take it u want an aggressive drop while maintaining ride comfort.. the blues are ok.. but if ur going with race springs, i sugguest u upgrade to agx, koni yellows, or illuminas. blues are basically stock replacements and are like.. 15% stiffer than stock? ::shrugs::

I put H&R race springs with Tokico blues on my gf LS..... Not a good combo... in my opinion... I then changed to H&R sport springs.... Still not a cool ride... So after all that, I switched to Koni Yellows... Awsome shocks... Rides a lot better.... So I would recomend you to spend a little more and go with Koni Adjustables... Just my opinion though... Good Luck...

I live in Saskatoon as does CBracing, and man, I just love my Illuminas. Got them with the Tokico springs and they have been great. My friend had the blues on his GSR and he really liked his as well.

Re: H&R Race Springs and Tokico HP Questions (CamLS)
Thanks for all the input...I really appreciate it. I think I'm just gonna cut my stock springs and remove the shocks. That should give me the ride I want. Lol.

Re: H&R Race Springs and Tokico HP Questions (99 EK)
they're very street oriented shocks. from experience they're pretty soft and comfy but firm enough to hinder bounce. great shock absortion characteristics for everyday use
but if you have race springs i can assume you are doing more than commuting

cant really compare .. .
one is a nice non-adjustable entry level shock
and another is a nice adjustable shock for the more experienced
ethier is a good choice .. and when it comes down to it .. its about money ... blues can go for 200 brand new ... illuminas can go for 350 brand new shipped ... just depends if you want to spend a little extra dough to be able to play with the damping or just leave it be
