Gude/Bullfrog head packages...... good?
i was wondering if it was worth it to get a head package from gude for my 98 civic dx with the d16y7 1.6L non vtec. they claim a 38 hp gain (probably at the crank).
i was most likley going to upgrade the pistons and rods too if those are not included in the package.
any help on what to do to make more power would be nice.
thanks

I heard complaints. One guy had his car running mid 12's, dropped that head on and went to mid 13's. Don't know his mods and thats what he told me.

look up a guy called builthatch on the board he built up a pretty nice d16y7 before building a nasty all motor y8. gude has been known to do good for the d series but thats pretty much it from what i've seen. i have had a couple of friends that ran the gude package on 4th gens and went into the 14's easily. u still have a crappy tranny i'd swap that for an ex trans before anything else.

Re: Gude/Bullfrog head packages...... good? (sohc_boy)
well before i did the swap i had a fully built JG single cam
ran 14.80s street tires
it was a little animal of a motor
gude i know mills the head down like 40 thou for compression
you really have to talk to them about waht is done
we only did one gude setup and it ran well till the kid blew up the motor
botttle fed or not he never told me what really happened
