Default Is this a D16Y7?

I just bought my first car (92 civic lx 4door) and I'm brand new to any kind of civic/engine knowledge. The guy who sold me this car said it had a d16y7 engine in it from a 98 ek. Just wondering if anybody can tell if this is the correct engine he said it was and is it a good engine to have? I wanna learn a lot more about my car and eventually make it really nice. Hoping you guys can help me out.

Ha! Didn't even notice the rims. I hate 3 spoke wheels.

the rims are hideous, can't wait to get some new ones. I'm thinking about starting a build thread for this car. I'm gonna paint it all white. dump it. fit it. maybe add some racing stripes and flame decals.. I have a feeling I'm about to learn a lot about civics in the next few months.

The original engine would have been a D15B7. Without seeing the block stamp I couldn't tell you for sure what's in it now, but it sure looks like a Y7 based on the dipstick location and valve cover. Someone reused the Intake and exhaust manifolds from the original engine though.

My opinion? The D16Y7 is a better engine overall than the D15B7 that came in that car. D15B7s were well known for blowing headgaskets, D16Y7s were more known for spinning rod bearings, but if you don't overrev them and keep and eye on the oil level you shouldn't have a problem.
