GSR swap/help
I'm thinking about buying this engine but have some questions. It has 70k on it and has DC headers and cold air intake. How much do you think this is worth?

Can anyone confirm that its a USDM GSR? The valve cover is not the normal one so I'm not sure whats going on. The car was t-boned on the passenger side so what should I be concerned about as far as how it impacted the engine/tranny? Also it currently does not start (because of immobilizer I think), any suggestions on getting it to start?

Re: GSR swap/help (cheehee)
First of all, great choice of motor , thats what i have in my ek .
k, to check if its usdm or jdm, just look at the block. If it says "b18c1" its usdm, if it says "b18c" its jdm. and i dont think jdm motors have that little serial number inder the engine code or a vin number plate. As far as the motor not starting becuz of the immobilizer, i think that would only happen if the engine is from a 00-01 teg. im pretty sure those are the only year gsr's with the immobilizer

Re: GSR swap/help (ballplayer)
yea, been wanting this motor for a while, finally found a decent price. Its a '99 GSR so I guess its not the immobilizer. When I turn the key, I just hear clicks, it doesn't try to turn over. Also, the entire dash is gone except for the cluster so maybe that has something to do with it.
About how much do you think the engine/tranny/ecu with CAI & headers is worth?
how does it compare to stock after you got the swap done and how much did you pay to get it swapped (unless you did it yourself)?

Re: GSR swap/help (cheehee)
sweet, thanks for the info guys . I think I can get the entire car, passenger side t-boned damage with no interior for under $3.5k so its a nice deal . Thats with engine/tranny/ecu, brakes, sways, & body panels. What do ya think?
I noticed that the valve cover looks weird, can't see the top of spark plug wires like a stock GSR. Anyone recognize this as aftermarket cover or DIY?

you must have only seen gsrs not running the plug cover because its stock just some people run them and some dont

Re: GSR swap/help (LG_R32)
I see. So this cover must be sprayed silver then since its not normal black with DOHC VTEC on it?
