gsr rear disc brakes on a 92 vx hatchback
ok here is the deal. today i bought a gsr rear disc brakes and the tailing arms on the gsr ones are bent. so now my question is can i just swap this whole part circled in red on to my vx 92 hatchback tailing arms?
This is what looks on the back of my rear brakes from the inside ,
can i just remove that nut and take off the whole drum part
then swap in the gsr one?

you can swap the disc assembly onto your civic's trailing arm, but just one nut sounds a little too easy from what i recall.......

You can swap the hubs/spindles, but it is a pain.
If you look at the backside of the trailing arm, there are four holes, inside those holes you will see bolt with star shaped holes in the top, you need a torx key for those. Once you remove those four and the splindle nut from the back along with brake cables, and lines, it comes right off.
I advise buying 8 new torx bolts, as these strip pretty easy, especially after having been sitting getting corroded for years.

it is definitly a pian in the ***, i would advise getting a freind and a breaker bar, or impact. Someone is gonna need to hold it, and you will have to keep everything straight wile trying to loosen those four bolts. Definitly not fun. Btw, how can you tell they are bent?

Also taking a torch to those bolts for a little while will help loosen them, but don't be surprised if you wind up using a hammer and chisel to turn them out.

the arms are the same.... just take that one bolt out and swap what you have circled in red. i have 2001 gsr on my vx. did just the disk assembly not the whole arm.

I would think that if you did this swap, like you said, you would know and have said more than..."just take that one bolt out "... when in fact there are the four other bolts on each side that we mentioned above.

I talked to Honda, and the guy there said it should be part number 51 in your diagram there. Looks to me like it's facing the wrong way. I'd go to Honda and it explain it in person.

Yes, you can just swap on the brake assembly onto your old trailing arm and lca. You can go to Sears or whatever and buy the torx key, which is size 45 or 50, i'll make sure when I get home. It would be helpful if u had a impact gun so you can take of all the nuts and bolts easily.

If you do an archived search under my name, there is a HOW-TO with every tool, and pics to guide you through swapping the rear hubs to your control arms. Its also in the Tech/How to link at the top of this section
