Default GSR/ITR steering rack swap questions.

I have here an ITR steering rack from a '97 ITR. I want to install this into my '95 sedan, as the current rack is shot to, well it's not in good condition

Upon looking through all of the information on this conversion, I know I need the Integra lines and OEM reservoir or something similar to do the vented setup. My real question is can I just swap the whole assembly in on any Integra sub-frame for the stronger piece, or can it only be swapped in on manual transmission subframes? I am asking primarily because I have seen Auto subframes going for dirt cheap, but as I do not have one in front of me to check it for fitment, I really have no idea if they are the same as the manual tranny subframes.

If you have one in your possession, why not just install the one you have?

That is the idea, but why install it if the Integra sub-frame is stronger and I can get one cheap, and just mount it to that one and then the swap is that much easier. Just drop one sub-frame and install another instead of breaking down the Civic subframe and installing the ITR piece on it.

The issue is whether the subframe from the Integra is different from the auto to manual transmission. That will determine whether or not I just swap or I order the other subframe.

Wow really HT? No one in 20 years has tried this swap... I find that hard to believe.

Thank you sir. You have saved me at least two hours of phone calls trying to find a part number. I couldn't find it on Acura OEM Parts for some reason. :/

I just need to order tie-rod ends and the universal for the column and I can perform this swap now

Just noticed, the Universal Joint is the same part # for Accord and the NSX. Why they didn't just the same part across the whole line of their vehicles I will never understand...

Weird, now why would the subframes be different? I've never heard of someone needing to change the subframe on an Auto-to-manual transmission swap.

The power steering subframe is different. The area that is different is the mounting point on the passenger side. It is more recessed to accomodate the larger diameter power steering rack, than its manual counterpart.

OP isn't asking about manual (non-power) steering subframes, he's asking if there's a difference between subframes on an Auto vs. Manual Transmission vehicle.

I just looked up subframe part numbers for both the Integra and the Civic, and I have a different answer. Subframes for both vehicles regardless of transmission type have the exact same part number provided they both have power steering. 50200-SR3-H50. Example vehicles were a CDM 92 Civic EX-V Sedan and a USDM 95 Integra LS 3-dr.

You been on this forum for how long and you can't tell they're interchangable? All you should need are the lines and everything else should mount up. Why would you need to get another reservoir might I ask? You can't see the resemblance of both integra and eg civic? Oh you need to ask first because you can't tell.

Its just sad you can't even find an oem parts site to cross reference parts. You should get everything specific to the rack and pinion.

Hey, KEEP IT CIVIL. This comment is not very helpful.

OP is asking about MT vs. AT subframes (ie., transmission type), which are NOT different, not power steering vs. manual steering subframes, which are different. As far as I can tell, I am the only one who has answered his question accurately.

However, yes OP could have looked this information up on some Honda and Acura parts sites. But, now it's done.
