GSR into EK coupe
i just finished my b18c1 swap, the throttle cable im using seems like it has a little too much slack in it, its not very snappy, and it doesnt open the throttle body quite all the way, id say it could still open a 16th of an inch. i have the threaded rod and nuts adjusted to the max. when you put it to the floor, it doesnt seem WOT. any suggestions? can i modify the bracket, or or space it with washers so that it takes up some slack? id like to see some pics of other ek GSR swap throttle cable and linkages... thanks guys.

Re: GSR into EK coupe
good question...

Re: GSR into EK coupe
You sure the butterflies in your intake manifold are working properly?
|
Re: GSR into EK coupe
yes...the throttle body feels as it should without the cable on it... just the cable feels sloppy and there is visibly play in it.
|
Re: GSR into EK coupe
I said "Intake manifold" NOT throttle body!
|
Re: GSR into EK coupe
umm... not sure, everythings working good, the cable just seems too long, and the throttle body doesnt get opened to the stop. how would i check?

Re: GSR into EK coupe
Did you use the stock manifold, and if so, are your IAB's hooked up to vacuum correctly?
|
Re: GSR into EK coupe
it still rips, vtec engages, just feels like when i floor it, its not fully WOT..like 80-90%. i dont think its anything other than cable fitment at this point...
should the cable pull the throttle body open til it physically cant go any further, because mine doesnt quite open all the way |
Re: GSR into EK coupe
how can i tell if the IABS are working and vaccumed right? and what exactly do they do? I kinda dove into the swap by my self to see of i could figure it out. the CEL is on...

Re: GSR into EK coupe
Are you using the GSR cable, the Civic EX cable, or what? When I did a GSR swap into an EK, I used an EM1 throttle cable in conjunction with a Skunk2 manifold, GSR throttle body, and B16 throttle wheel.

Re: GSR into EK coupe
I had the same problem on mine. It's normal on a C1 into an EK. I used a GSR throttle cable, but still had some slack when adjusted to the max.
I fixed it by wrapping a couple of zipties around the cable where it goes into the back of the pedal to take up some slack. On the IABs - unless you know you added wire for them, they're probably not working. The surefire way to tell is that if they ARE working, you can see the IAB diaphragm move open and closed as you cross 5800-6000 rpm. |
Re: GSR into EK coupe
turns out, as i examined that diagram i realized that there was no hose going from the evap canister to the evap purge control solenoid valve. would that affect the IABs?
as for the throttle cable, im not exactly sure on what you mean vindicator, shoot me a PM for details if you could, maybe a pic? id appreciate it. still waiting to find a upper timing cover, im paranoid about rolling a rock thru my cam gears, the roads here get serious...plus i drive on a little gravel to work. other than those three issues, im ready to push her a little... |
Re: GSR into EK coupe
just get a skunk 2 intake manifold.. gsr intake manifolds suck

im gonna get out today and mess with the evap lines to see if it helps anything |
Re: GSR into EK coupe
What type of manifold did you put on it? j/w

Re: GSR into EK coupe
The plenum could also be bent causing too much slack, or it could just not be the correct plenum for your setup.
I used a GSR cable in my swap and custom made my own plenum and never had this problem. |
Re: GSR into EK coupe
this threads kinda old, a few months back i just bought a new gsr cable and it fit perfect. the other one was a little longer. not sure what it was actually from.
