GSR ECU wiring
I have been playing with the idea of purchasing a b18c1 GSR motor and putting it into my 92' Si. I have looked up quite a few threads on swaps and info.
My question is, I am aware that the GSR utilizes a knock sensor, and I have seen a lot on "butterfly harness" I believe it's called. I also see some diagrams of ECU pinouts for knock and such, but I am not certain what it entails. So I simply attach the one wire from the knock directly to "D3" I believe it is?
With that said, assuming I buy everything with the swap including ECU, am I missing anything to make it install smoothly?

Re: GSR ECU wiring (Elevorett)
you currntly have a d16z6 right? if so you will use your current harnes. you just have to extend a sensor on your i/m, the other **** you dont plug in. then get your p28 chipped. and then your done

yes that is the way you hook up the knock sensor, run a wire from the plug to the D3...i think you might be talking about the secondary butterflys which is designed into the Gsr IM, thats y it looks wierd compared to other B series manifold...if you decide to change the IM then you would need to chip your p28 but if you decide to keep the Gsr IM, then use the p72

you can use the gsr mounts i believe..only if you have a EK then you would need to change some mounts...everything on your stock harness should plug up to the gsr but the plugs that dont reach, unwrap all the black covering and see if you can pull out some extra wireing so you dont have to cut and solder...if you want to keep it nice and stock looking, take your stock harness and unwrap the whole harness of the black covering and start to plug up the motor and add the sensors you need...after your all done, take the black covering and wrap up all the harness again and tape it back up...

ok, I see what you're saying.
So the starter, alternator, dizzy, ECU and everything from the GSR will mate with the Z6 harness, or do I need an OBD-2 to OBD-1 conversion harness?

Re: (Elevorett)
as long as you get an OBD1 B18C1 you should be fine, plug and play. Just run the wiring for knock and IAB (butterflies) if you use the P72 ECU. For the P28 no wiring at all, just need to get the P28 chipped for the GSR motor and change the manifold to something like a Skunk 2 unit.
