Default gsr in a 97 civic help

okay we got a 97 complete motor swap and we put it in a 97 civic ex. We used the ex wire harness and the gsr ecu everything works fine but the rev limiter is at 7600. Is it supposed to be like that? In my si its at like 8200 give or take. He said I need to get the ecu chipped.

your gauge cluster is redlined at 7600 or your engine hits the reve limiter at 7600
best bet is to get an SI gauge cluster, it will plug right in and it will have the correct redline.

is it a usdm gsr or jdm? makes a difference.... usdm redlines around 76-7800 and jdm about 8500.

try that out...
yea you can get your ecu chipped to make it rev out farther but its really not all that much worth it

I though even though the redline is at 7.6-7.8 it would go to at least 8.2 before it stops bogging at its limit like my si, both are usdm

are you using the obd2a p72? because it does hit rev limit around 7600-7900 somewhere in that range... and if you are using the obd2a p72 you can't chip it, you'd have to hondata or some other aftermarket tuning tool or system.

I have a gsr in a 96 coupe and what i did was just threw on the obd2a to obd1 conversion harness and threw on the obd1p28 don't know what it redlines at but powerband isn't affected...
