hi, i have a 98 civic ex coupe d16y8 standard, i am thinking to put on some grounding wires. i am preparing to do it myself, has anyone did it theirselves before by just buying wires from auto store and put them on. can i have some installation instructions?

what guage of wires should i get?
where are the mounting points?
what are the parts i needed?

I used 8G wire, and crimp on rings

I ran them from:
Alternator-frame
Throttlebody- firewall
Dizzy-radiator support
Block-frame

it starts a little quicker
the throttle response was better
radio sounds cleaner

I made my own as well. Throttle response was better and idle smoothness increased .

I grounded all mine back to the battery...that's about as good a ground as it gets .

I would go take some for ya,, but the motor is kinda missing,, so it wouldn't show much.

I just used a mounting bolt for the TB to mount the ground wire on mine

WHY?!?!?!?!?
the battery isnt a ground point...it gets grounded as well...try grounding to the proper spots with good size wire and see if you notice a difference

actually the battery is a good grounding point... energy moves in a cycle.. the battery isnt grounding to the frame the.. the frame is grounding to the battery... i can teach you basic electronics if you need... but in reference its not good to run back to the battery because of the distance.. you dont want a ground wire longer than 18inches (i prefer to keep mine under 12...) also going higher than 8 ga isnt neccissary as all you are doing is allowing more engery to pass through.. and the engine doesnt use that much.. for an amplifier for stereo you would need a bigger gauge wire..

Exactly. I kept all my wires under about 20 inches and they're all 8 gauge. They're all neatly connected to a long bolt on the negative battery terminal. Works out fine.

its alot cheaper to make your own ground kit. Use 8G wire And with a good ring clip on the end. Shrink wrap the ends to keep from any crosion. Depending on where you place the wires make sure they are hitting metal not paint. The cleaner the conection the better your off.
