Default Ground Control help!

I bought these GCs used and they didn't have the instructions with them. The install looks fairly simple except theres this rubber sleeve thing that I can only guess goes between the shock and the threaded body. Problem is, I can't get the threaded body over the sleeve. I'm using Tokico Blues in front and KYB AGXs in the rear. Is this normal, can I run the coil-overs without the rubber sleeve thing?

What part are you talking about? post a pic if possible. There are a few sleeves that im thinking of.
Is it this one by chance? if so yes you need to use it.

That rubber sleeve thing your talking about only goes with a certain set of shocks, not all shocks are compatable with it. Its purpose is to keep the sleeve from rattling up against the shock. In your case since it does not fit with your set up just wrap some electrical tape around your shock (towards the top and bottom of where the sleeve would cover) and it will work the same. Make sure that the fit is snug (between the shock and sleeve) that way there is no possibility of a rattle.

Yep....you don't need them. you can just get some thin o-rings from the hardware store and use those instead.

When I bought my GC's for Koni Reds (all new) - the GC's, nor the Koni's, had any of these rubber pieces it seems everyone talks about.

The Konis have a set ring (installed on the shock body) where the machined lip from the GC sleeve fits/sits right on top of. Using a little electrical tape, around the Koni shock body to to secure the sleeve, was all that was needed for its installation.

I'd still like to know what purpose those white plastic parts are for (what comes supplied with the Koni's): The split 'washer' for the front and the 'cup' for the rear?

Thanks, I ended up putting some polyurethane calking in between the two but I encountered another problem when I was all set and done ; the dust boot sat on top of the threaded body. I just cut it in half but I would like to know what you guys did to solve the problem?

I didn't use a dust boot at all....and a lot of other people don't either because trying to reuse the stockers, according to GC directions, just does not work.

However, do a search - a gentlemen here did a nice little writeup on using the steering rack boots available from AutoZone as dust covers.

That's why I like SoCal....don't need dust covers. Haven't run them on my civic for 18 months and the shocks look great still.

More important where you get harsh weather or icey roads.
