Grinding/Rattling Noise

Grinding/Rattling Noise
Hey guys, I have a 99 Civic Si with 80k miles.
My car is making this random grinding noise. It only grinds when I'm only giving it gas AND when I'm giving it gas while the clutch is halfway pressed. It doesn't make the noise when I press/depress the clutch at neutral or when I'm about to shift. The noise sounds like it's coming from the passenger side.
Anyone know what it could be? Is it bad if I ignore it? New here, please help.
Thanks

No, it doesn't make the noise when clutch is not pressed while in neutral and it doesnt change the sound during hard turns. It only makes the noise randomly when I'm giving it gas. Sometimes it doesn't.

I have a similar problem, but my car does it when it's sitting in neutral, so I assume it's the ISB. I'm probably just gonna swap the whole tranny for an si tranny.

Re: Grinding/Rattling Noise
See, the problem diagnosing this is that grinding and rattling are usually two very different sounds. If you just said grinding, I'd say that maybe your clutch plate is worn down to the metal and slips sometimes when you try to torque the motor. If you just said rattling, I'd say a heat or dust shield or some similar piece of thin sheet metal is rattling when the motor torques and shakes.

Trying dropping the tranny and check if anything is loose or broken, and then replace the clutch and throwout bearing. Just for a shot at it.
