hi guys , I'm not familiar at all with relays & such.. so I was wondering if a relay could cause my fuel pump to not run when the key switches on... it smells burnt & looks pretty rough but I wanted to make sure before I bought a new one.

that circuit board is in terrible shape, get a new one. If you're smelling burnt material, do yourself a favor, REPLACE IT IMMEDIATELY. Don't need a fire..

yeah definitely find out where the leak is coming from.. maybe the windshield seal is leaking? along the a-pillar? just a thought. or could be the door weatherstrip seals.
usually if the main relay has soldering cracks (from age) it can be re-soldered. but yours is too corroded to even try to mess with it, just easier, more reliable to replace it with a new one. thanks for the update.
the windshield seal is pretty rough looking but I've hit puddles in my car and felt water splash my feet so I'll definitely be fixing whatever leak to avoid this in the future.. I really appreciate the links for the part though!

hey you're most welcome! I think any windshield shop can help you seal up that glass. Sometimes that lip rusts around the windshield and they have to sand it down, primer it, apply the urethane glue to the glass. I had that happen on mine. hope those links to the parts work out for ya!
so I put a new relay in today.. put another ecu fuse in & still nothing.. blew another ecu fuse so I'm assuming it's grounding out somewhere.. right? any ideas?
if that's what it looked like when you pulled it out of your car, every other component will need to be replaced too.
Does the title say water damage? That really looks like the car was underwater.
the car has a clean title, it leaks at the back hatch & in the driver side floorboard.
yeah looks like you'll have to get in there and see what else is corroded sad, but true. But try and get that leak fixed because any work you do will be reversed quickly by another short.
well that's only a temp fix, it's probably best to find the actual leak and fix it permanently. It sounds like it's coming from a break in the seal of the windshield.. Have to pull the windshield and see where the leak is coming from, because that's how it was for mine too.. might be the same for yours.
well darn.. I guess that'll be my option for now until I get the funds for that.. getting laid off sucks! but I appreciate all the help. I'll be sorting through the wiring under the dash asap!
yeah I know it's about the money, but I don't want you to half-a$$ it.. and then have more problems. I've learned that when rebuilding my civic, do it right and do it the first time. Plus when you sort it out under the dash you'll be able to find the wiring problem plus it'll show you the exact location of the water leak, can usually trace it back to the origin. Sorry to hear about being laid off, but that gives you more time to sort through the wires!!
yeah , I definitely know what you mean about that haha if you seen the bare, twisted wires on my engine harness.. you'd freak out! I have a lot to do with the car but it'll get there eventually.. I'll definitely be using my time for fixing this money pit tho
cool.. gotta do something to keep ya busy until the next job comes along! Wow bare wiring in the engine bay? It's a miracle it lasted this long before it decided to stop working! lol. It's worth it, to rebuild it.. I just got done after a couple years with the civic I have. It's now done, and compared to buying a new car, I just rebuilt this for a fraction of the cost. Could look at it that way. Plus you have a classic now.. 20 years old!
so keep us posted what ya find.. but you should get the shop manual for your year. They're all over the internet in pdf format for free. Would help for you to know the wiring layouts.
oh yeah.. previous owner wired it just to make it run.. it's a pretty sorry job but it'll get fixed soon lol
