Default Grinding noise coming from hub...

I have a grinding noise coming from the drivers side rear hub on when I hit a large bump in the road or during hard cornering. The grinding noise gets quiet, then loud with the rotation of the wheel.

However, it only happens when the car is dropped with a lower offset wheel.

I had my car raised up with a 1 finger gap and +30 wheels, no noise. Lowered it to tucking tire and I got a grinding noise. I put a set of +40 wheels on and no noise. I put an 8mm spacer in and the noise is back. Raise the car up...no noise.

All I can think of is that the wheel bearing has some play or maybe there's some dirt in there...I based that on the camber/offset maybe affecting everything.

Its a 94 cx with ls rear disk, stock arms, omni coilovers. It made the noise with two different sets of coilovers and I went as far as swapping the coilovers from side to side.

or its other things like the edge of the wheels rubbing on the wheel well. or the brake cover plate behind the rotor is hitting the wheel or rotor. thats what mine was doing i looked under there and say that the brake cover was rubbing against the rotor good luck

No shoes in rear disk...

I never thought about the dust shield...but why would it move? I thought everything down there should be stationary besides the bearing

wheel bearings are loose and dried up. when u drive and turn the steering wheel to the left and right real fast it goes away.

wheel bearing. Low offset wheels put a lot more stress on them than high offset.

1. rear bearings are roller bearings
2. as previoiusly stated, putting a load on the wheel creates the noise. jerking back and forth does me no good.

thats what i was thinking...the higher offset and the added camber are putting stress on a damaged piece
