Default Grinding Noise.

Ok so I have this grinding noise as I'm going threw the rpm's and only seems to do it around 1500-4000rpms. I thought it was my shifter but last week I replaced my bushings and a new short shifter and it's still doing it. Could it be my axles? I have a 96 ex w/ y8. Mods are minimal w/ unorthodox crank pulley(coming off this weekend) dc sport header, CAI, and exhaust. The body of the car has over 200k engine and tranny are fairly low mileage w/ tranny having 40k and engine 60k. Help would be much apprechiated! Thanks.

Sounds like you are describing a rattle or vibration. If it does it in nuetral have a friend rev it to the right RPM and then check around and try to track the noise down.

Sometimes the shifter can make contact with the Exhuast, causing an annoying rattle.

kick your muffler and see if the exhaust rattles, my stock exhaust was all rusted up and rattled in that rpm range

Ill get under there again this weekend and check it all out I cant remember off hand what my exhaust looked like when I was under there. I know it damn sure needs replaced probally too, can we say Apexi WS2? I'll also check the clearance of the shifter and the exhaust again too. Thanks for the input anyone else's OP would be apprechiated too.
