b series trannies grinds in 3rd a lot. if you beat on it, dont expect it to last like 200k. gst some syncromesh and it will make it go away

ROFL...well like most any other honda owners we all have the grinding tranny problem. ofcourse changing tranny fluid on a regular basis will help but in the end it's inevitable. now most trannys will start to grind closer to the middle of there life. around 200 000km's. now for instance my 91 teg grinds from 1st to 2nd when shifting hard. now anyone can make there tranny grind by shifting to fast...short shifters will not help this problem. what causes it??? simple: synchros's in your tranny are worn. try GM synchromesh as it's an additive that helps bandaid the synchro's and will help get rid of the grind. just try and rev match more and just don't shift so fast wit some snychromesh and you'll be fine for a long time to come. worked for me and i'm just shy of 300 000km's

Re: grinding into 3rd gear (00 Em1)
it doesnt matter what fluid you put in there. its still gonna grind. your syncros will not the be problem and more simply because youre not grinding on the GEAR itself and it will need to be replaced as well. 9/10 times you cant just buy the syncro from honda anyway. youll need to get the entire 3-4 gear set.

Re: grinding into 3rd gear (Slammed Civic Si)
your gonna have to change the syncros, there is no way around it. get carbon coated syncros then you will never have that problem again.
