Default Greddy evo? good or bad

My friend has a 98 ex civic wit a b16a2 and he's thinking about buying a Greddy evo exhaust system. He's wondering other's opinions on the evo, like horsepower gain and sound, do you guys recommend this system or not?

hehehe

i like it. gains are negligable at the low end. more mid range if anything. Max 6hp on my Si. Of course i have the AEM CAi, DC Sports 4-1 CC headers....so...

it's not annoying loud either...but people will know your coming when your at the higher rpms.

Freeway cruising is nice...if you have the radio on at a decent level, you'll hardly notice the noise. Throttle position makes a big difference when it comes to the noise.

My Greddy PE didn't last 2 years before it cracked on the backside of the resonator.

I'm just wondering, which has a better sound, the Greddy EVO or the Tanabe Racing Medallion. I'm contemplating on whether to get either one one my Si. I don't really want mine to sound like a pissed off bee. I liked the Tanabe with it's deep sound but it may be too loud for my tastes. Does the Evo sound like a pissed off bee or is the sound okay?

at wide open throttle, the RM sounds much closer to a "pissed off bee" than the evo. evo is about as deep as they come.

Thanks...I heard the RM, it sounded pretty deep, but I guess when the VTEC kicks in then it might sound like a that bee thing. Also can I install the EVO myself just using jackstands or a ramp? The tools would be no problem. I just don't wanna spend the money to get it installed at a shop. Or is it just better to get it installed at a performance shop?

You mean to put it on? Yes, it's that easy!, if that's your question.
I've ridden in a Civic with Evo, and then the owner rode in my
car with the Dunk, and we both agreed the Dunk is quieter, if anyone
cares.

I've heard nothing but good about the Evo. May I also suggest the 5Zigen Fireball?

I had the Evo on my old 95 Accord and loved it. It's sooo deep yet screams in VTEC.
