Default got one qestion about taking pistons from different b series.

I got some GSR piston and rods (p72) that I am trying to put into a B18A1. is it better to use GSR pistons and rods. or should I use the GSR pistons on the LS rods.

rofl wow. ls has a longer stroke than a gsr, you can not use gsr rods. if you are going turbo, which is what your other thread says, use the stock ls pistons and rods. raising compression on a boosted motor is just asking for detonation.

on a tangent, this motor is going to blow up. the end. looking at your other thread, those cylinder walls look horrendous, and a novice building a motor by himself is a recipe for disaster.

the rods need to match the crank being used. ls crank = ls rods, gsr crank = gsr rods, etc.

if you're going through the trouble of trying to use gsr pistons, might as well upgrade to forged rods and pistons in the compression you want.

I got these GSR pistons for free and I thought that all b series parts are interchangable.

also I didnt think that a 9.7 to 1 comp ration would be too high to boosttt

ok, but gsr pistons are not 9.7-1 c/r

depending on whether they are usdm or jdm its going to be over 10 either way. hope you have a good tuner..

and to the first part of you post, b series are interchangeable as long as you know what goes with what, and it seems you do not.

rofl i would be more worried about they cylinder wall cracking than your oil have bits of metal in it. which it will.

stock gsr compression is perfectly fine with boost. all these people making 300whp on stock gsr internals must be doing something right.

i understand this, i have made 300whp+ in my last gsr, but this kid is saying numbers like he knows that is exactly what his c/r is or will be. he has no clue what he is talking about. a b18a1 has a c/r of like 9.2 and gsr has a c/r of 10+. 9.7 is a number he is fabricating in his mind if he has stock pistons, which from his posts he does.
