Got a new B18 Tall block
Well, I haven't been on the forum lately since I've been in Tennessee and I got myself a used B18 tall went and had it bored, ported, polished, and all that other stuff. And of course I got new Rods, Cranks, Pistons, etc. I kept the same head though and I'm selling the B16 block now.
But anyway, I got home on sunday and went to get a smog test. I was coming home and realizing my engine sounded funny and when it gets around 3000RPM it takes forever to keep going up to 4000. so i got home popped the hood and saw that my cam gears were way off. the timing retards had been set all the way back. so I readjusted them to only a 1.5 second. went out for a drive and it was fine. park car at zesto's, get ice cream get back in car, and turnkey. it cranks once or twice and I hear one hell of a loud snap. the timing belt went. walked across the street to PepBoys (Ilove this town) and a guy and I put a new one on in the parking lot. I got home and as i switched off the engine it snapped again and I saw the cam gear wasn't set properly. and I know 100,000,000%x500,000 that I readjusted it properly. what is wrong? thanks in advance.
By the way, it's a B16 Head with crower Cams, Race Eng. Valves, polished, has AEM adjustable cams, when I took it apart every thing looked normal and ok.
Any suggestions on problems? should I use a B18 head?

Re: Got a new B18 Tall block (GapxGuy)
make sure your using either the ls belt or gsr belt.
which ever waterpump your using.
so if you got a ls block and you used the waterpump that came with it.
make sure you get a ls belt.
if its a gsr block use a gsr belt, or if you swapped a vtec waterpump on an ls block use a gsr belt.

Re: Got a new B18 Tall block (djhatch)
ahhh, more aem cam gears slipping....
but before jumping to conclusion make sure the timing belt is correct and check the tensioner too, make sure nothing is interferring with the belt while running.
