How's it retarded? Ever heard of a fastline? Essentially, that is kind of what you are "building" if you put an extender on a short throw.

Once you have driven with a fastline or fastline type shifter, it's honestly hard to go back to a stock height shifter.

He probably thought the OP bought the extender to "extend" his shift throws. Then adding a short shifter would be the exact opposite.

you're retarded hahah. a short throw with extender will be alot more beneficial for certain types of racing.

What is he trying to accomplish? A short throw shifter makes the shifts shorter only because the shift **** sits way lower and makes the distance that the **** moves shorter. It does nothing to change how it moves the shift linkage. Extending it of course adds length to the shifter so it can be reached from the steering wheel faster. The **** then has a further distance to move in space relative to the stock location. Getting both will put him back to where he started. Ok... maybe at the most it would move the shift **** an inch from where the stock location was....but why spend the money for that?

My opinion still stands as it being a retarded waste of money.

Do a search on FastLine shifters. That will give you a good idea on why people do this. Also, check out what every single person that has a Fastline has to say about them. There is a reason people spend $180 on a shifter. Because it's worth it.

Yes, shift throw on a short throw with an extender will be nearly stock again. However, the **** will be about 6" taller than it was stock. Some people buy it for the cool looks others get it for the function. I'll be honest. When I got my FastLine, it's because it was in a car I got on trade. I pointed and laughed. Then, I drove it. No more laughing; it's the best feeling shifter I've ever had in a Honda. This extender should make a short throw about the same as the fastline short of the mass of the FL shifter.

Don't knock it til you try it....

NO. a short throw shifter will change how the shift linkage moves. if you have ever compared a genuine short throw to a stock one you will notice that the ball is alot higher. It not just about how low the shift **** is.

my short throw shifter is actually a few inches longer than the stock shifter. but the throw is significantly shorter. short throw has nothing to do with the length of the shifter

Fastline shifters use weight so the stick can be "tossed" with a flick of the wrist.

OK guys....... after a little bit more researching into the short shifters, I will admit I was wrong about it not doing anything for the shift linkage. Some short shifters do move the fulcrum point of the lever underneath the car.

a short shifter changes the distance between the pivot point and the linkage. ie: the distance between the "ball" and the "place where the shifter bolts to the linkage" is actually LONGER on a short throw...thereby reducing the throw.

the height of the visible shift lever (the part seen inside the car) has really no effect on shift throws.

Better shift **** position. Hands closer to the wheel without having to take hand off the wheel for a longer time, especially on a road course.
