got my car dynoed
it is completely untuned. i was a bit disappointed on the HP numbers. 130whp, 120wlbft. just look at the torque curve tho!! nearly peaks at 2k rpm! torque is on top, HP is the bottom.

Those are nice numbers, why disappointed? The LS is a wonderful motor for sure, and it's impressive to see people building them NA. What kind of cams do you have in there?

well when I dynoed my stock LS with just a tanabe exhaust.. stock everything else .. it hit 123whp/117lbs torque.. so your engine is strong at least.. begin the mods =P

Thats not bad considering that your engine hasn't gone through any tuning yet. And, LS B18B motors are 142 HP to the flywheel. At 130whp, that sounds about right. Get you car tuned and you should see higher numbers. Cam gears, cams, fuel pressure, timing, etc.... will all help you.

Re: got my car dynoed (Roger)
yes, adjustable cam gears are my next mod along with p30 pistons and 11.3:1 CR.
then, back to the dyno for tuning. this was basically a baseline. after the pistons/tuning i'm hoping for 170whp/155wtq

Re: got my car dynoed (DOHC-DX)
There are plenty of B20's that only put down 120 to the wheels (I'm referring to B20Z's).
You're in pretty damn good shape.

Re: got my car dynoed (HXMan)
I really don't think that will happen with just higher CR and tuning. Sorry but you will need more then that.

Re: got my car dynoed (rainmanEK)
no, LSVtec is not a route i am going to consider. i'm not a master engine builder, so i am not going to risk the notorious un-reliability of a half assed built LSvtec.
thanks for the input so far everyone

Re: got my car dynoed (gamby)
Yes a lot of B20s put down 120 whp stock...add a decent I/H/C/E setup to a B20 and you're looking at 135 - 140 whp.

How aggressive are your reground cams? What aftermarket cams to they compare to? Nice torque curve by the way

they are pretty mild. they have more duration, which is what i'm attributing the low RPM torque to. i believe the regrind was performed by schneider. they are very close to the webcam 148e in numbers. i have all stock valvetrain

yeah, ok... thanks for such valuable input
to bump that HP # up, is a skunk2 manifold worth it, or should i just port an OEM one?

Re: got my car dynoed (Hyjnx)
well, as long as i get traction. my best (and very first) time dragging was 15.4 at 92mph. that was with LSD, soft street tires, and tons of wheelspin.... in 90+ deg weather. now i know why i spin so much
with practice, i hope to be at 14.8-15.0
