GOT A LITTLE PROBLEM...
Ok I have a '93 civic cx w/d16z6 swap running a p28 ecu. Im throwing some cel's and I have tried to fix the problems but have had no luck! I've tried searching but couldn't get a straight answer.
Here are the cel's and what I've done to try and fix them...
CODE 3: Map sensor- I have cleaned the sensor itself with brake clean and even replaced it with a working one that I ordered off ebay. The ebay one made the code go away for a couple weeks but now its back. I tried cleaning the new one with brake clean also!
CODE 7: TPS (throttle position sensor)- I have no clue where to start with this one. I know what the tps is but I dont know how I go about testing or cleaning it???
CODE 21: Vtec- Correct me if Im wrong but the cx model is a non-vtec model so the vtec needs to be wired up. I've followed the wires that are running from the vtec solenoid and they go into the ecu. The green wire w/yellow stripe is running to pin c6 and then the blue w/black stripe wire is running to pin a4. Im not sure where the black wire runs to. Does that sound right?
The car is running really wierd like its cutting out or losing all it's power, then it will eventually die and take for ever to crank over!
I need help asap! This is my daily driver so I need this running good. Any and all info will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Re: GOT A LITTLE PROBLEM...
The black wire is a ground wire and definitely has to be connected to a ground source, which could be the whole VTEC problem. Isn't there also an oil pressure switch on the solenoid that has to be wired up? Anybody?

Map Sensor= Green w/White stripe, Yellow w/Red stripe, White
TPS= Green w/White stripe, Yellow w/White stripe, Red w/Blue stripe
Thats how they are on my car right now and have been for the 2 months I have owned the car.

Re: GOT A LITTLE PROBLEM...
I tried switching them back when I first got the car and I can't remember exactly what happened. I want to say it was bogging out. I'll try switching them tomorrow, when I got some light, and see what happens.

Theres the problem. TPS 4.5 v WOT. Just use a hacksaw or something similar to slot the screws or w/e honda put in there then remove them with a flathead screwdiver. then replace with regular screws

Re: GOT A LITTLE PROBLEM...
Ok I just went out and followed the black wire coming from the vtec solenoid as far as I could, without pulling off the back half of the engine harness, and it doesn't ground out anywhere.
Is this really a ground? And if so can I just snip and ground it somewhere myself just to be sure that it actually is grounded?
c'mon guys I want vtec

And what about this Black wire coming from the vtec solenoid? Is this a ground? If so can I ground it myself?

Re: GOT A LITTLE PROBLEM...
Well i may not be of much help, but i had a bit of a similar problem with my car.
What happend was my car was throwing out cels for vtec, speed sensor and some o2 sensors. my fuse for the alternator/speed sensor blew out all the time as well.
so i found out that somewhere down there the speed sensor was groudning with another wire and so was the o2. once i fixed that, everything came back to normal. So check for a open circuit mayb? wires touchin?

Re: GOT A LITTLE PROBLEM...
I'll check but I pretty much pulled off almost the whole engine harness and didn't see anything of concern...
What about this Black wire coming off the bottom of the vtec solenoid? Its with the Blue w/Black wire...

Re: GOT A LITTLE PROBLEM...
Ok so I went and repinned the 2 wires at the ecu and just to make sure I grounded the Black wire coming from the vtec solenoid myself to the ground above the thermo. housing.
I reset the ecu by unhooking the positive battery terminal, pulling the ecu fuse out of the fuse box on the fire wall and unplugged the ecu. I let it sit for 5 minutes and then put it all back together and fired it up. It's now throwing a CODE 21: Vtec Spool Solenoid Valve.
I also checked all the wiring going to and from the TPS and MAP sensor and redid all the wire connections. Its not throwing the CODE 3/7 anymore!!!
So just the Code 21!

Re: GOT A LITTLE PROBLEM...
The map and tps were right I just think maybe the wiring was faulty (bad connections)but it runs better than ever!
Now I just need to figure out this vtec issue. Im about to test the Vtec spool valve. I hope everything works out damn!

Re: GOT A LITTLE PROBLEM...
so basically I have to look for continuity between the 1p connector terminal and the body ground? If its not between 14-3007 than I need to replace the spool valve?
The only other thing it could be is the wiring which I have double checked and beleive to be correct...
