got fuel, spark, and it cranks but won't start?!
i just did a compression test yesterday and right afterwards, the car doesn't start anymore. i took all plugs off and injectors and then did the compression test. i don't know what might be the problem, it worked right before the test. i checked everything, i have fuel, spark, and came up with nothing. i have brand new cap/rotor/sparkplug wires/ sparkplug. and i just put a brand spanking new dizzy two days ago. any ideas?

Stupid question, but did you make sure you put the plug wires back in the correct order/pattern?

yes they are CORRECT. when i turn the car over, it cranks and then acts like it almost wants to start up then it doesn't

Did you put the plug wires back in the order they came out in, or according to a Haynes manual? If you did Haynes, good luck. My Haynes had the wrong firing order listed so I had to do trial and error and eventually got it right
Other than this, sounds like timing to me. Did you have to crank the engine at all to get the rotor screw out? Also, check the gap on your plugs.
And I noticed oyu're from Champaign...do you go to U of I? Just wondering good luck.

Haha, no one said you were a dumbass. Firing order is a common problem that even the best car people overlook now and then. Calm down, sheesh
Check ign. timing. Also, did you pull a plug to make sure you're getting fuel?

if it worked before the test, then its most likely something is hooked back up incorrectly, check, check again, and check again

yep it'd run off the battery for a while.
it sounds like your timing is off.
but it also sounds like you just put the motor back together. check all your connections

if you are sure everything is attached correctly and it's not firing up.... you ferked your plugs, get a new set of ngk's and it should fire up. even though you unplugged your injectors, when you plugged everything back in, its a possibility you allowed your car to fuel up the chambers at least 2 or 3 times = your plugs got way 2 wet with fuel and are to fouled.
it sounds hard to believe right? It happened to my boys car a while back when we did his compression; by turning the key to acc/on (u know right before crank) twice without starting fouled his brand new splugs!
