Got A Fluidyne Radiator And Now Heat Sucks. anyone else with this problem.
Hello all,
I put a fluidyne radiator in my car and now my heat sucks. Does anybody else have this problem. Is there any way to fix this problem. Thanks in advance.

It might just take a bit longer for the engine to heat up compared to before the new radiator. I have a fluidyne and I wish it kept everything THAT cold.

well...it goes through your heater after the radiator...so it is to be expected...

Goto a parts store and get a thermostat that opens under hotter temperatures. The one you have in the car is probably set up for really hot weather, but since you have the bigger radiator you don't need to run a thermostat that opens so quick.

Umm isn't the whole point of having the better radiator to keep the engine cooler than before?

You have air in the system and the water isn't circulating through the heater core enough.
Your car should slowly purge the air from the system... keep checking the coolant level in the radiator and add to top it off. Make sure the overflow is full of coolant too so that it can suck it up when it needs it.
My car was the same way when I put the motor and new radiator in. Just leave the heat slider set to full hot to keep the valve open and the air will eventually come out.

If you get all the air out and still the same then take a look at the heater core you didn't say how old it is also you said had a crash ?

Shouldn't take any longer to get up to temp because the thermostat shouldn't open until the engine starts to get warm. Have him check his thermostat.

The thermostat is good. I know that for a fact. But there might be air in there still. My car is a 2000 so the heater coor should be good. I took the lower air box apart awhile back and the whole thing was still shiney silver.

Thats it then, you have air in your system. It will come out, but you must keep that overflow full.

Just bleed the colant system open the 12mm bleeder valve while filling the radiator with the heat selector to Hot.....when straight coolant pisses out of the bleeder valve tighten it up....

Re: (hndarcrb18c1)
reason
1. your motor isnt producing enough heat to begine with, now you have a dual core aluminum radiator.
2. since you were in the freeway for that amount of time... all of the cold air(while crusing at high speeds) is constantly chilling your radiator...
i have a integra radator(i would say eveivalent to your radiator) but i have a b16a, that makes enough heat to warm my heater up...
