I don't want to ask what you were doing standing outside your car in a weird area of town at 2:30 am... but at least you're safe! Sorry about your loss

only took them 5 hours...... definitely not a 2 man crew... and why no alarm? all that work and no alarm with an anti car jack feature?....
hummmmmm sounds fishy to me... but in the end you were able to walk away with your life and thats the important feature...

He said he was standing outside his car with it running, meaning his alarm would have been disabled.
That's shitty. Less than 5 hours to completely strip a car.

yea but if you didnt know anti car jack features are enabled when the door is opened... and most if not all alarms have this feature. and im assuming if he spent all this money on his parts it wouldnt make sense not to have a decent alarm system...which would have had the anticar jack feature.

Jesus man. I've heard a lot of stories about Hartford going downhill but **** thats incredible. Why were you standing outside of your car in that area at 2:30am? Thats right off 91 isn't it? That sucks man im sorry. I hope you have some form of insurance to cover at least part of that investment.

Re: (MI4EH2)
cxshoe is right. Some features still protect you when the car alarm is disabled, and some alarms allow you to arm the alarm when it's running.
With that much investment into a car I would have nothing less than a GPS system. Then those thieves would be sitting in jail right now.
Sorry for your loss, I don't mean to come off as blaming the victim.

okay maybe you missed the whole mask and a gun at 2:30 am part - I'm sure the thief is not going to go "you know what forget it" and simply walk away.
Anyway do not confuse having a standard GPS system as full proof - it's not as this car can be stripped and the unit destroyed long before you ever know it's gone in many cases.
However there are new key chain sized GPS units that can be tracked VIA internet. The cool part about these is they can be hidden seperately from the alarm unit ect.
Some interesting places might be inside the passenger seat or tucked into an air con vent. somewhere it's not likely to have been found and in the case of the seat not likely to be left inside the car but to travel WITH the thiefs

interesting solution would be for the GPS to write a history of its location every 30secs/minute or so. This way you can track the whereabouts even if it's been destroyed.. and if the thief takes it straight to their shop even better for you
now if only they'd make such things
