Default Good tranny fluid...Whats your recommendation? (getting slight 3rd gear grind)

I have a 2000 Civic Si and just recently 3rd started to grind. If I shift slowly, it wont do it...however anything above 5,000 rpms...causes a slight grind normally shifting into 3rd.

Ive read a few previous post and remembering people occuring this same problem, however changing over to a nice tranny fluid..sometimes made it go away.

Any of you guys recommend a certain tranny fluid, that make this problem go away? If so, what and where do I buy this fluid?

Thanks for any help you can provide

Without me having to look for it, how many quarts should I buy for a 2000 civic Si B16 S4 tranny?

i believe the correct amount is 2.2 quarts so you will have to get 3, but I can never seem to get more than 2 in my tranny? who knows!

Honda Manual Transmission Fluid sucks ***. Should've got the Sychromesh but I'm a cheap bastard. Don't go cheap like me.

syncromesh and honda tranny fluid is about the same. friction modified is used on LSD trannys but you can use it on your regular.

I am using redline shockproof lightweight. Its around 5-8 dollars a qt. It got rid of my grinds and tranny isnt edgy anymore.

thanks for all the responses guys,

So what its come down too ...is should I buy the GM sychromesh or Redline Tranny fluid?

Any experience both? If you like Redling oil better...what exact model did you get and if so..what is the part number?

I just want to experience and "try" to get rid of the grind...I dont really care of the cost factor.

Thanks guys again for all your knowledge and help
