I'd agree with poison, run a small DSM turbo (cheap) and the setup a custom kit from there. Fuel upgrades, VAFC hack etc...

the T25 is slightly smaller than the 15g that comes with the greddy kit. so if u say no to the 15g, the T25 isnt much better when it comes to power. maybe u should do some research on precision turbos.

I agree, go with a small turbo. Nothing bigger than a T3. checkout the td04 turbos and the t28 is nice if you can find one.

If you're going to do some headwork and/or cam.. Look into Forced Performance FPBig28. http://www.forcedperformance.com

i second the notion to not get anything bigger than a t3, because it will take too long to spool and probably wont be working efficiently because the z6 cannot handle the amount of boost that a bigger turbo can produce

I run a t-25 on my z6 in my crx, and my only complaint is the top end kind of lacks. I almost wish I would went with a 14b. But i like the results.

yes a t3/t4 setup, thats what i've been told...because with the t25 or the 15g turbo...the top end isnt as great. With the t3/t4 it'll pull much harder @ top end power. what do you guys think?

edelbrock kit. ballbearing snails spool quicker.
and if its homemade i would try to get a WRX turbo, considering theyre newer.
im not sure tho, cuz im a FI n00b. all motor for me! (sometimes)

14b, a bit bigger than the t25. good choice either way.....and cheap

You couldn't give me a t3/t4 of a 1.6l sohc. Nothing wrong with the turbo, but pretty safe to say that it too big for anyone with a 1.6L. That thing won't hit full boost until after 4k rpm. If you want speed runs and are all about 1/4mi, then go for it. However if this is your daily driver, smaller is better.
Gotta keep in mind the intended use of the turbo/car.

Re: good size turbo to boost z6? (kommon_sense)
The FP-Big28 uses modified T25 compressor and turbine housings, which means this turbo could trick its mamma into thinking it was a T25. Don't let that cute little shell fool you, however, because on the inside it's 100% pure evil. We carefully selected a compressor and turbine combination that provide massive flow capabilities and very little back pressure. Doesn't sound like a big deal? Did we mention it makes full boost in just a hair over 3000rpm, and holds solid all the way to redline? Now we're cooking with gas
Our goal with the FP-Big28 was similar to its FP-T28/28 predecessor… to create a fast spooling, bolt on turbo that got up and went. We wanted to give the FP-Big28 a little more "umph" than the T-28, but when we strapped one on a 2G AWD and took it to the track, the results knocked us on our ***. At 21psi, the FP-Big28 pulled our full weight 99 GSX to an 11.82@119.3mph
Copied from Forced Performance.
