Good shop for swaps, and swap info
Hello, I live in the DFW area (Arlington, Texas), I was wondering if anybody from around here knew of a good shop for engine swaps. I want a b16a2 for a 99 EX
Also, I have been searching the forum to determine what I will need for the swap, look over the list and let me know if I got it right.
B16a2 motor w/ tranny and harness
ECU (plz explain OBI and OBII)
headers for 99-00 Si (DC 4-2-1) to fit with no gap, right?
new axles (which ones?)
Do I need new motor mounts, and will the accesories match up (air conditioning, alternator, power steering)?? Will the engine/ecu work with the EX dash (speedo, tachometer, thermostat)
I'm sorry for all the questions, but of the various forums I have seen, this one seems the most knowledgeable.

Re: Good shop for swaps, and swap info (seano)
you forgot the doluck bar j/k
ok obd 1 ecu's respond better to mods, i believe they came from cars pre 96.
OBD2 is less responsive than obd1, they have an extra o2 sensor so it is more sensitive to mods.
Headers dont know.
Axles would be any b series axles, should come with the swap.
Mounts, I believe. not too sure. but you might have to replace one mount, again iam not too sure.
For ac i believe you need the si compressor.
Your dash will work fine.
hope that sorta helps.

Re: Good shop for swaps, and swap info (Canttx)
Yea, it does, thanks man
So, if the engine is post 96', going into a 99' car, I will need a OBD2 ecu, right? well, what ecu usually comes with a b16a2?
I wanted the b16a2 swap over the b18c due to the price difference, but I am still open to the b18c. Do you think the b18c is worth the extra $$$, and do they both install the same?

yes the b18c is worth the extra money, its got an extra kick of torque, its obvious because it has more displacement

Re: Good shop for swaps, and swap info (seano)
I would go w/ the b18c i say its worth it unless you like revving your engine alot to move.
what year motor are u getting. if it is obd1 then i would rewire your car to run obd1. If its obd2 then it should plug right in, cuz your 99 already has obd2.(or a variation of obd2)
Find out what year the motor is.
i would save for the b18 so as not to have any regrets later, you know?
or you could always try the b16 and if its not to your liking swap it out down the road.
