is this a good deal?
I found a full jdm b16a2 swap for my civic locally.Includes motor,tranny,ecu,axels,
harness, mounts. The bad thing is it spun a rod bearing at bout 3k rpm.He says he
shut it down instantly. He wants $800 for the whole thing. If I bought it I would rebuild
the block oem and change all the seals.I know most likely I would have to get a new crank or have the one in it machined and get new bearings.I plan on looking at it tonight. He already has it out of the car.Just want some other opinions b4 I take this project further.I have a budget of bout $2k

i would say no... i ripped apart a b18 with a spun rod bearing.. that rod bearing went through the entire motor.. i found small metal shavings throughout the engine, most in the oil filter and on a magnet in the bottom.. who knows where those metal peices have been in that b16a2, dont get the shaft man! caugh it up and pay a lil more... you get wut u pay for

So even if I did a full rebuild it wouldnt be worth it? Im gonna have him pull the head
to see if any shavings got anywhere.

I promise you metal is all through the oil passages on that thing. You will end up having to pull it apart clean every oil passage that you can replace all the bearings seals and have things machined back to speck. So if you are going to do it figure about 2 grand in parts and labor.
