Default Is this a good buy?

Hey guys i'm really happy that i'm finally getting honda Civic.

Today I went to a dealer and found a 97 Honda Civic Hatchback.. its all stock... I mean everything is stock..

its a Auto, D16y7, No sun roof and it has 44k miles...

and the guy is selling it for $$4,500
Also theres another dealer with a 95 Honda Civic EX, D16y8, VTEC, sunroof, and 88k miles in it. for the same price of 4500..

whice one is a better buy? As for me I think the EK Hatchy looks great, but the 95 Civic VTEC is faster.

I'm planing on buying a b16 later also... so tell me what you guys think

go with the 97, because its lighter and if you plan on putting a b16 in there, it will benefit from the lighter car plus its newer. but then again no sunroof. if i were you i would keep looking. i got my 95 coupe for 3300. keep looking.

if you're def doing a swap find a manual car

secondly any car you get with the stock d series in it is not even going to be remotely quick so don't worry about that.

a civic that runs low 17s high 16s is pretty fast for me, I have friends with cavilers, and kited out Kias, and a escort LOL

and right now I run a low 19 sec , so 17 sec semi fast for me. and by the way with I/H/E with a SOHC VTEC can kick some butt sometimes..

haha, I have one of those too.. well, mine is a 93 Laser. sucks for us

back on topic, I'd go for the 97 hatch and do an LS motor and manual tranny swap asap. vtec is overrated in my book, but I'm sure I'll get **** for that

you have thoses POS two? thats awsome! how much did you sell it for?

if so I would want to use that money for the honda. but yea dude I think a b16 is better then a LS.

Well thats my opinion.. what can you do on a LS that you CANT on a b16?

and My friends sometimes beats LS teggys with hes i/h/e SOHC VTEC sometimes..

LS is better for boost in my opinion. Could always slap a VTEC head on it later down the line if you wanted.

I still have my POS, it's my daily beater, can't go wrong with 30mpg driving it like **** the whole time. I want to blow the 1.8 and swap in a turbo 4g63 though also, I'm not into building hondas, my friends are and that's the reason I'm on the board.

I'd rather have a built LS turbo than a B16 or B18C turbo.. vtec is worthless if you want boost IMO.

i bought my 2000 for $5000 cash. they wanted $8200 until i pointed out the aftermarket oem hood, bumper, and headlights (minor fender bender?) they took my 5K offer quickly. after having it checked out the rest of the front end of the car was all orginal. clean one owner with high 72k miles on it. i took it even thos it was an auto.

take the hatch.

since when did a civic ex become a hatch
it is a coupe and yes they did have the option for a sunroof<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by uNbrokeN &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

and the guy is selling it for $$4,500
Also theres another dealer with a 95 Honda Civic EX, D16y8, VTEC, sunroof, and 88k miles in it. for the same price of 4500..

</TD></TR></TABLE>

and personally i would go with the 95 because of modability ease
you can find more parts for it and the 95 ex came with rear disks
