Default Goo Gone?

Ok so I've been procrastinating removing the adhesive left over by the vapour barriers behind the door panels, as well as the adhesive left over from the OEM Honda Side Mouldings due to cold weather. Not only that but I had a bitch of a time finding this Goo Gone Automotive Spray Gell nonsense. So tonight, I follow the instructions, hoping to actually get this crap off of my doors. But to my avail no luck, so what exactly is it that I'm doing wrong?
Also what happens if I didn't get it all off, and it drys on the paint? I mean I gave the areas I used it on a good wash down with soapy water, and then again with water. But just out of curiousity.

I dont really understand where you are using it,
and what you are trying to get off.

I have HEARD that it messes up your clear coat.
If you didnt get off what you wanted off, I always
like to try things I have already.

wd-40
gas
oven cleaner
dish soap

all these things work for taking off stickyness and
grease. Just have to know what your dealing with,
and what chemicals work for that aplication.

So it will **** up the clear coat if I didn't get it all off?

Ok the adhesive I'm trying to get off is behind the door panels, where there use to be a vapoud barrier. I removed the vapoud barrier to access the clips on the OEM Honda Side Mouldings. Now the side mouldings on the doors, also left behind an adhesive which I'm trying to get off as well.

Your scaring me.

Dont be scared at all. I doubt you have a
supper nice paint job, but if so, I still wouldnt
worrie much, as long as you use some soapy
water and try to get it off.

So the goo gone didnt work? Personally, when
I got my hatch it had a lot of funny *** graphics
on the side. They left a lot of adheicive behind after
i used the blow drier to remove them. I just used gas
to remove the glue, and water to remove the gas. It
actually got some of the dirt off. The oxidesed stuff or
whatever its called. Im a newb at paint and body work.

Take my advise with a grain of salt, I didnt care much for
my stock paint, I dont think I had much of a clear coat to
worrie about. But your not going to rust a hole through your
door especially with goo gone, or even some of my more
ghetto methods.

I waited 2 - 5 mins, then used the required "white cloth" to whip it off, then applied alot of soapy water to the situation just like it says, and nothing.

Well ok a little something, but not no 2 mins. I was out there for over an hour, and only a tiny bit actually came off. But the adhesive left over from the OEM mouldings never even budged.

And not a nice paint job huh?

Yeah well the adhesive I'm trying to take off can been seen in the above picture. The other adhesive is a really thick, sticky, gunk type that was holding on the plastic vapoud barrier.

thanks, but I already taught him how to fix the problem,
instead of just doing it myself and having him wonder.

I dunno, that stuff looks pretty thick. I think your going to need
something more then goo gone. Start with maybe cooking oils
and see if that brakes it down.

Im just throwing out stuff that may work that I have in my house,
im not saying go buy any of this and see if it works. If you dont
have it dont bother.

Then maybe the wd-40, but I would try that in a hidden spot to
see if it really messes with the clear coat. Maybe under the door
sill plastic things that are under the door when its closed. I know
they have the clear coat and you can hide that spot easy. If that
dosnt start to brake that down and all else fails move to the gas.
Dont let that soak into your hands though. It starts to hurt, and
they say all that crap causes canser.

I've found goof off to be more powerful,
it comes in a little squeezeable tin can,
and STINKS LIKE CRAZY, but that stuff works,
its like acid on certain surfaces.

pour it on a styrofoam box and it'll eat right through to the bottom.

I used it to take off the stickers on the back of my hatch, I poured tons of the stuff right on my paint, and the clearcoat was still fine.

I might be alittle worried if my clearcoat was already degraded, but no I wouldnt worry about hurting a clearcoat in good condition.

believe me, I poured plenty on my clearcoat, for a good ammount of time, and it took off the goo, and nothing else

dong get me wrong, goo gone works pretty good!
and it smell ALOT nicer(you'll have to lock up your rag in a lead safe to keep the stench away once your done with goof off).

I used goo gone on the inner part of my rims, they were covered in road tar mixed with brake dust!! NOTHING seemed to work on that stuff.. then I tried the goo gone and it just zapped it away.

goof off worked well to clean my turbo's compressor housing

3M Adhesive Remover . I just used it on my gf's 2003 Accord to get some tree sap off it. Took it off in seconds. It does not damage the clear coat as long as you are careful not to rub it too hard. Most people think you need elbow grease, but this stuff does almost all the work, then you just wipe the adhesive off gently.
