Going to the track tomorrow for the first time, need some help
OK, tomorrow I am going to take my 95 del Sol to the track for a baseline run to compare with after I do a swap. Anyways, I was wondering what RPM I should launch at (I searched for this and came up with nothing)? Also, should I run without the top or with it? I could leave it in the garage and lose some weight, but at the same time, I would end up hurting aerodynamics or am I wrong? Any other tips? Does reaction time really matter in non-bracket racing?

Your launch rpm depends on how sticky your tires are and how much power you're generating. Generally, the sticker the tires, they higher RPM you need to launch.
Many drag strips won't let you run with an open top. Convertables generally need to have top up, sun roofs need to be closed, and t-tops need to be on and secure. Check the rules of your local track, but I would run with top on just to be safe.
In non-bracket racing, r/t doesn't mean too much. The timing lights always count down at the same speed everytime, so if you time it right you can get pretty close to 0. However, don't expect to do that in brackets as the timing is random =p

Most tracks, atleast the ones locally... won't let you run with your top down. This is acorse applies to convertibles, I would assume it would also apply to the targa top Del Sols.

Yeah, I was planning on leaving the top on anyways for aerodynamic reasons. As for the launch...I practiced a little and I think launching at 3-4k and dropping the clutch works pretty well, not much spin.
So should I feather the clutch or do the 3-4k cluctch dump? Cuz I have feathered the clutch before at really high RPMs and had almost no spin.

Re: (B18C_DC2)
i would suggest on feathering your clutch out. since i have a b18c in my i launch at 5k and feather it out nicely. if you launch too high you might juts spin if you launch to low, you might bog down. its all really in the practice and knowing your engine and how it reacts. the best remedy i have found is try driving barefoot on an open street with no people and find the best spot on the clutch . with bare feet you tend to sense things better.
