going to swap motor on my civic soon, please help

Ok I'm having couple problems with my 93 civic EX stock motor already, I think it's just old age it has about 180,000 miles on it already. I really like this car so instead of buying a new one I would like to drop in a new motor, currently I'm looking in to the B18C and B18C1, my question is what exactly are the differences (if there are any) in the installation, and which one would be easier to drop in since I will be doing it my self and for the first time. I would prefer the JDM B18C1 which also makes me wonder does the law prefer a USDM motor ovar a JDM motor?
Any help is greatly appreciated, Thanx.

you might wanna get a friend to help, how long you plan to be without the car while doing the swap. thats a bunch of crap you will have to do for your first time by your self.

Oh yeah I will have a couple of my friends helping me out and I'm planning everthing very carefully , as far as time goes with out my car I have about a month. By the way is there a good website that is very detailed on this particular swap.

you need new motor, transmission, wiring, ecu, axles, shifting cables/rods (not sure which), and i believe you will need to relocate one or more of your motor mounts. good luck https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif i got some parts you might need - b18c1 block - perfect condition, head with bent exhaust valves and intake manifold. IM me if you are interested.

The B18C is a JDM ITR motor. B18C1 is the USDM GS-R motor. Differences include- intake manifold, cams, valvetrain, comp. ratio, and (if complete) trannies.
As to your inquiry about the differences in difficulty of the swaps, they're both pretty much plug 'n play. They'll both bolt in, but it makes it much easier to buy a mount kit (Hasport for example), this will resolve difficulties that might arise from an OEM mount. I'm not even sure that all OEM mounts would allow you to bolt that in.

less work...hmm...its still gonna be alot of work whether you get a complete swap or a partial swap. all i have to say is good luck, and it wouldnt be a bad idea to have someone put it in for you. go to a shop that can get you the motor and put it in for you. usually they give pretty good deals as far as the price for labor and the actual swap itself.
